Footsteps

from The Super 8 by Shift

/

about

The Super 8 was an adrenaline-fused collection of eight songs, most of them written spontaneously and with passion and fury. It took two weeks to create the eight songs and only 3 hours to record, yet it still remains as one of the greatest RockLords albums.

After all the improvised tracks that had been huge and powerful, this track was more sedate and purposeful. Mark's improvisation was excellent as he led the trio through many changes. Then there is the drum solo... the band thought it was a juxtaposition to have a brutal solo over top of such a laid back riff. It was named 'Footsteps' as it conjured up images of a Hobbit sneaking about, as Lord of the Rings was popular at that time.
