My Lobotomy 03:22
My sunlight on your fallen sky My moonbeams, on your setting smile Like brothers, we are meant to be Aggression, forming naturally Forgiveness equals compromise In my other brother’s eyes Forgive me as I cause you pain I do it at a personal gain Who’s gonna take you apart and put you back again Pieces are missing only then you’ll be my friend Sworn enemies with reasons not to be Lie closer now, it’s my Lobotomy I’m watching over passive skies I’m searching for aggressive eyes I’ll push you, and then you’ll push me The feeling, Oh so naturally, Keep pushing, if it takes my life My seven sons to sacrifice, The only hand I give to you Is bloodstained and unshaken too

Mortal 03:29
I love my pain, it teaches me life Try to refrain from pleasure I seek my pain to balance my life Teaching me to be mortal And in your eyes I see a pain Not unlike me We share a bond, you and I Forged in this place of hurting A glance afar establishes A common ground reclining And in your eyes I see a pain Not unlike me I know your pain Bite my top lip Taste my own blood Feel mortality As I move on, I try and leave All this pain behind me But, it's too late - it has become Everything that I be

Emporium 02:32
Look what we have here The Emperor’s new beer With a taste that was taken from the sun no mistakin’ It’s the best beer of the year. And if you can’t taste it, then you’re a fool And if you can’t taste it, you’ve lost your cool Why don’t you try it, the Majestry buy it The emperor himself says so Sunkissed by the Gods Poured down from Rainbows end Brewed and distilled and then rushed over hills To the capital my friend I’ve marketed this brew most suitably Only the smart and wise will ever see The taste that’s created, its unprecedented Most suitably royalty Looks like I’m gonna win Another town sucked in Don’t know what they oughta cos they’re just drinking water With a flavouring my friend The marketing pitch worked so beautifully Like sheep they flocked to taste such ecstasy They’ll beg and they’ll differ in ignorant litter But all beer tastes the same.

You're choking on your reasons Blinded by your cause Smash superficial boundaries Wax someone else's laws Such sacrifice and dedication Heading in a warped direction Ask the question - is it you?!? Through the smoke there seems to be A better life for you and me Or so you would have me believe But, you go your way, I'll go mine Don't need your causes, I'll be fine I've got a lot better things to do Your politics are boring, nothing for the test Still glamorising stories to impress the rest Society to blame you're telling me I think you are your own worst enemy What's the reason - is it you?!?

And as she walks, she smiles And it’s not for me Draw a stick across the sand And gently float out to sea And if it comes my way then I’ll ride the breeze Driven far beyond your stars, far from your own galaxy And if the truth be known, then it’s the best for me I’m no longer feeling stronger; I haven’t found my place to be Beneath these layers shines a light so bright You know I’d burn your eyes out If I only could Although she spoke so lightly, the words they cut so deeply Leaving a scar that hasn’t set to heal And time can pass so slowly, when you’re feeling lonely So much to give and no one to receive And if the truth be known then it’s my destiny How can someone sink so low? I haven’t found my place to be Pushing back the hands of fate as the fingers wrap around my soul Have I realized too late there's little learned just sitting in the hole? Do good things come to those who wait or are they simply passed over the goal?

Lady 1 …And she was gone but like fine wine she stayed Mature in the mind, a vintage for days …And she was gone but I never ever knew her Which is lucky I guess, so maybe less is best …And she was gone – the moment I turned my head My universe halved, my dreams left un fed …And she is well, candle in her eye Angel in her face, admirer in her sky …And she was gone Lady 2 …And she was gone off to a distant land Yet in my mind her and I stand Upon the shore of what could be Her footprints lead towards the sea Inland I go trying to think twice I palm my face and roll the dice And there she is standing there for me I turn away, turn back and see …And she was gone Lady 3 …And she was gone – is love like this? Forever chasing only to miss Can’t seize the moment, grab the day My indecision paves my way If I could change one single day It would be when you first came my way Background no more, barriers aside I’d close my eyes and you’d be mine …And I’d be gone…

I don’t seem to realise why Living my life like you won’t die Tomorrow comes too easily And I don’t wanna feel like I could lose you Scared to be around What threatens to leave at any second Blink – don’t close your eyes Don’t let Him touch you! Don’t let Him hold! You’ll take with you a failed part of me All the time to promise to try Living myself – a selfish lie Maybe I’ll come another day And I don’t wanna feel like I don’t know you Life was always easy with you ushered at my side But now it seems uncertain, I’ve got nothing else to hide Forced to make decisions, I can’t make them on my own The dying light engulfs you as your spirit returns home Try to make up for lost time Now it’s too late, sever the line How quickly you were snatched away And I don’t wanna feel like My whole life is passing by Just enough time to say I will miss you

Thaaaaaaaaa... Problem with you is that you're beautiful when you're angry, so I... Push the right buttons to make you feel unhappy, it’s a... Selfish solution to my problems I know, now the Problem with you is me I'll bring out my darkest clouds, to rain on your parade, when you're feeling Happy then I'll do my best, to make you blue again, I'm only Trying to bring you down, because there's Beauty in your frown, and the Problem with you is me There's no secret why I'm doing this ---------------- (Dammit! Can't remember this word!!! I'll let you know when I do) Being 'round you is an event that I can't miss Popularity Stakes at risk, I'm flowing through my day, now is it a risk Is it worth the riiiiiiiiiisk? The Problem with me is that I only see you nightly whereas Twenty Four Seven is how I should view you rightly Its amazing what you've done, turned the tables on my fun, now the Problem with me is you... There's no secret why I'm doing this ------------ Being 'round you is an event that I can't miss Popularity Stakes at risk, I'm flowing through my day, now is it a risk Is it worth the riiiiiiiiiisk? Thaaaaaaaaaaaaa Problem with us is that we always seem to be fighting, but it’s Self indulgent, because it’s to my friends I'm skiting, If They could only see, the many things you do for meeeeeeeeeeee Then the Problem with them would, The Problem with them would, The Problem with them would be you.

I've got a picture of a stranger in my pocket Just in case I ever meet her - I'll know who is who I know she's gonna be more beautiful in person But then if I never meet her - what will I do? I only know her from the outside I know it's gonna be a strange ride But if I never meet that picture of a stranger in my pocket Who will? I've got a ticket for a bus that's never leaving Just in case I feel like staying - I'll know where to go I've got a picture of my sister - God, I miss her Yes, I still think about her twice a day or so She's so close, but so far away I think about her every other day But if I never meet the picture of a stranger in my pocket Who will?

about

The RockLords would not be around without Mark Weir.

Their 58 albums (and counting) all are, in some way, a tribute to the musical influence of this extraordinary pianist/songwriter who effectively taught us all how to play, write, perform, and love music. This collection then is an attempt to pull together Mark's best contributions to the RockLords' family, a task made incredibly difficult by the sheer volume of top quality offerings from Mark throughout his career.

Starting with the Gypsys in 1994, Mark has been involved from the very start of the band, being the always competent musical presence in the early years, being the rock which allowed the first studio-produced album (The Art in 1996) to be made, and then one of the key personal involved in the Taranaki Battle of the Bands triumph of 1997. After Cynosure ended in 1999 came the Shift years, before the RockLords returned home to the Gypsys, again with Mark leading the way with his inspired musicality.

Here's what his fellow RockLords had to say:

Kerry Logan (Gypsys/Cynosure/Shift): “Happy birthday, my man. Thanks for teaching me basketball and all about the Three Elements. Silver and Jolly never had better cowboys.”

Richard Allen (Gypsys/Cynosure/Purge): “Markie mark... tallica piano weildin' master of social media. Master of trash talk and 3 point shots... and maybe the odd carry ball. Always remember how happy my brutha from anotha mother is when playing music and always love jamin with him.”

Ben Stevenson (Shift): “The man who carries a picture of a stranger in his pocket, the key(s) to the best band most of the world never heard.”
Bobby Logan (Gypsys/Cynosure/Shift): “Mark – if you keep practicing you'll be able to play the piano properly one day, I'm sure you stole most of those riffs, happy birthday bro!”

Shay Markby (Gypsys/Shift): “Just dropping in like the main riff in Emporium to say Happy B'day, Father time. Pantsasaurus! It was only a couple of months but thanks, it was inspirational jamming with you.”

Bevan Johnson (Gypsys/Purge): “Mark, your musical generosity knows no bounds. So much so one of your incredible tracks is all credited to me... good choice, ha!”

Andrew “Bazil” McLoughlin (Gypsys/Cynosure/Manager of Shift): “Dungeon Master: ‘talk amongst yourselves’. Mark: ‘I hate you’.”

Julian Maraki (Cynosure): “Mark, or Weezer as I sometimes called you, I had known who you were before I joined Cynosure but had never had the privilege of seeing you at work. The first time I did I was totally in awe, you had what I call "magic fingers". Then listening to you talk about music gave me the feeling that here is someone who has mastered his craft, the opposite end of the spectrum to me, the humble novice winging it to keep up with the rest of you boys. The time we spent together; in lounges, cowsheds and on stage I have and will always treasure brother. There's a certain piano sound that whenever I hear it takes me straight back to my memories of jamming alongside you, watching you shred away. The most recent is the piano break in Lorde’s new song Greenlight. And to this day I haven't seen anyone else play “…And Justice for All” on the keys note for note. You my friend are truly a legend. Julio.”

Celebrating not only his superb musicianship and inexhaustable presence as a writer, and as a friend, this collection is a tribute to the one and only Mark Weir.
