Love Wins

from Y3K Part Two by Kerry Logan

/

about

The Y3K album is a conceptual piece about my 'spiritual reset' and Part Two occurred when I read the book 'Love Wins' by Rob Bell. Like I did in Part One, I wanted the first track on the album to be a sort of overview for the entire concept, so I purposely finished this song last. Unlike Transgression, however, the lyrics here are far more sparse and I try and cover more ground with less words. Probably the truest line I have ever written begins the song, in that I can only ever truly know God is Love and that has to mean something.

I came up with the core riff sometime during a Knox music practice and made a quick recording of it, before forgetting it for some time. When I came back to it, I realised that it suited the stripped back feel that it now has, making it the first non-teeth song on either of the two Y3K albums. When I recorded it finally on GarageBand, the extra backing tracks began to just happen during recording, fleshing the song out into its present state.

lyrics

All that I know for sure
In the end love will save us all
The ebb and flow, the reasoned words
The constant search, will bow to love…

I know my heart, it bends with breeze
How much more so the thoughts that drive us all?
No matter how we see the world
The Author owns the fate of these

It is our wont to box things, itemise
We demand that God succumbs to this
But, oh, the danger of absolutes

There is neither slave nor free
All will bow before the Lord!
