about

The WWB album needed a strong finish and there was a lot of journeying during the parts of The Never Ending Story movie that the song ran alongside. In 1998 I had written a piece of music (called "The Osireon") which I intended to use for an Egyptian concept album. It was similar in feel to Cynosure's "City of the Seven Hills". Even though I still want to write that Egyptian album, I couldn't resist using this as it was so powerful.

My favourite songs that I write are when I can link up themes and have them interweave with each other. This song is one of those moments where I was able to marry the original track with a version of the "Oracle" riff. I took the opportunity to overdub as many guitars as I could. I think I got to 9.

The conclusion of the track is a variation of the "Debab" riff featuring Matt Henderson playing some beautiful piano for me.
