I wanted the whole WWB album to have a strong musical theme since I was writing it as a complete concept album. Two major themes play throughout and this is the first and most dominant.

In mid-1998, whilst walking through a mall in Palmerston North, I came across a string quartet playing beautiful, echoey music. I left them and quickly the idea of writing a pieces in that same vein began rifling through my head. Very soon I had the music which I hurriedly wrote down. When it came time to assemble the WWB album, I went to this piece immediately for my main theme and it didn't disappoint. (I did originally want to have the album open with strings! but could organise it in time - sorry.)
