about

This song is almost a stand-alone piece as it could easily be disconnected from the album as a separate concept. I had pretty much written the guts of the song years before WWB and the only thing WWB did was give it form and a little bit more purpose.

I was interested in the idea of their being a little bit of evil in everything when there was no specific 'good' direction. Technology, our daily lives, the way we move throughout life - with no defined "goodness" to our movements, we are all inherently being "evil" - the devil's son is in everyone now... Anyhoo, I took verse's one and two as they were but morphed verse three to suit the album concept.

After the track is possibly my favourite part of the album. The short track at the conclusion, which is largely just bass, drums and a keyboard loop, is my heavy-ing up the Oracle riff in the style of The Mars Volta (I'd just heard Francis the Mute) a'la "Miranda". I then end the song with the second musical theme - a teaser for the second half of the album.

lyrics

Go long for the ball, son
Sit down – see the Cubs won
Crack tube, have a cold one
Sink further into bedlam
Got no time for the Book, mon
For I trudge through the day some
From the dawning till the dying sun
I fall open like the victim

The Devil’s Son is a Human now

Install a sky and a five point one
There’s no limit – I imagine none
Fill my day, to the brink it runs
Crash through the clutches of discipline
Walk the dog then the chores are done
Pull me out – for it weighs a ton!
The Wolf he leaps at his new victim
I almost died for the mess I own

The Devil’s Son is a Rocketship now

Creep away from the world I’m on
Sniff the rock and declare I’m done
I know the Wolf and his words are one
The thunder on the horizon
I’d rather die like the race I won
Come for me Wolf – your days are done!
There’s more than one – he’s in everyone
Why break the rock! I declare I’m done!

The Devil’s Son is in everyone now
