Stranger 02:46
I've got a picture of a stranger in my pocket Just in case I ever meet her - I'll know who is who I know she's gonna be more beautiful in person But then if I never meet her - what will I do? I only know her from the outside I know it's gonna be a strange ride But if I never meet that picture of a stranger in my pocket Who will? I've got a ticket for a bus that's never leaving Just in case I feel like staying - I'll know where to go I've got a picture of my sister - God, I miss her Yes, I still think about her twice a day or so She's so close, but so far away I think about her every other day But if I never meet the picture of a stranger in my pocket Who will?

It’s such a scream, if you wish to try Just lift the lid and I’ll show you Mortality always has its price; stuck with the body they gave you To deal alone with such tempered things, no privacy for the cast out So deep indeed in this hole again, down on my luck Bastards way out Higher and higher I’ll climb, from something so deep and sublime And everyday I awake, see clearer now through my mistakes Are wishes for free, are wishes for me ‘Cause I want to wish again See flies on the wall, can’t fly here at all Why not, I’m not wingless If someone should care, is someone aware In darkness, I’m drifting So pray for the night, that makes it alright, It’s alright Alright for the moment Waiting, oh waiting, for this all to end The sun has been stolen and I can’t pretend To walk in a sunshine that I’ll never know To each here’s a raincloud with teardrops of gold Come on show me who’s closest I wish I could feel without showing I wish I could learn without knowing I wish there was somewhere through time without growing old I wish I could give without losing I wish I could love without hurting I wish there was room in my mind for someone to call their home So cold now, I feel frozen In sunshine, I felt golden In times by, I could fly high One step away from your blue sky And higher and higher I’ll fly Pushed onwards since I was a child And every reason I break It’s over and now it’s too late Why such an ordeal, this habit seems real I lived and I learned and I tried To live every day without a mistake It’s over I failed and I died Now this something is escaping you We picked the winner who done it You chose the one from the sugar cane So sweet to taste in a moment Now hear my voice, hear me scream out loud Shame on all those who are closest All tucked away in this lousy hell When will we take time to notice?

Father, hear these words brought from the hole I’m in Call to arms to level out the Transgression… yeah! One ear to the diagnostic whisperings A hole is found that will cause the end of things It’s not just the blood loss from the hole that stings So much more, the infection of guilt it brings! Discovering the fresh wound, I end its sin But I’m left with feeling faint – the drag begins Effectiveness lessens as I’m drawn within I can’t fight with parasites beneath the skin It envelops me – moves to sink its teeth I try to thrash against its theme, but I am left a reeling Will not allow myself to give it away Refuse to give in… fight on through the pain… It’s only with open eyes that I see I could never win this fight – stupid me As I fade, God kicks in, brings it peace Its only when I am strong that He feels weak There is now no condemnation for those who Are in Christ for he has met the debt of sin Father, hear these words brought from the hole I’m in Call to God to level out the Transgression… yeah!

Time Now that you’re not around I’ll sit and wait for a sound For you to appear – I know that you’re near Mind I know just where you’re s’posed to be I pray you are looking on me When all’s said and done – what we’ve become Hand I’ve never seen so much of my life With all that was here you would laugh They lifted us high – you shone in each eye Go on Now that the smoke has all cleared We’ll sift the debris for years Keep you in the mind – we’ll still find our stride Hold me I’m not afraid to die I know where I’ll be When you come around Lonely It show’s how much we care As long as you look down We won’t run away

Longest Word 04:02
I miss what never was How to come to terms with the loss But when I felt, I wasn’t alone Though my dreams never came home She blows all my mind away When she smiles I hear me say Only she can smile that way I hope that smile’s for me It was the sweetest feel but so black When I pushed it for a word, it just pushed me back I’m pleased to see us grow I just thought I should let you know Washed, now I can resume to be The constant person you would have me to be Still I am webbed up like a Fly again Double one – count it up from ten

Farmer 04:37
The Farmer in the fields The Wife, she makes his meals She doesn’t like the dirt The Wife, she makes him work In the fields stands (the) tall Scarecrow The poor man watch(es) the woman go Knows not of the Scarecrows gleam But spies her caught up in a dream The Farmer’s enemy Is what she went to see Made moments, he made none Hand forced the crow laughs some Don’t leave the field The Farmer casts her out Knows not what she’s about She wanders to the Crow Something that she knows Winter passes into his life He finds the Scarecrow and his wife Crow enjoys Farmers innocence She moans, he runs for the fence Is Farmer dead today? Hoping so, for his sake Will his wife speak again? Now that she’s left the field’s frame? He won’t leave the field

Lollipop 03:59
Went down to the shop To buy me a lollipop Bought my favourite one A taste that can’t be topped I can’t wait to get my fingers on it I can’t wait to get my lips upon it I can’t wait to slurp my goobies on it I can’t wait – no… In walks a hooded man With a gun in his hand Pushed it up into my eye Said, “eat that and you’re gonna die” I can’t wait to get my fingers on it I can’t wait to get my lips upon it I can’t wait to slurp my goobies on it I can’t wait – no… The hooded man walked out the door The hooded man was ‘round no more I walked out the lolly shop And I still had my lollipop! I can’t wait to get my fingers on it I can’t wait to get my lips upon it I can’t wait to slurp my goobies on it I can’t wait – no… I just can’t hold out no more My body shaking – really sore I gotta eat that lollipop Made up my mind – I can’t be stopped I have got my fingers on it I have got my lips upon it I have got my goobies on it I couldn’t wait – no… Up pulled this black carriage And out stepped death Pulled out his mighty scythe Said, “now the maggots gonna wriggle and writhe” I couldn’t wait to get your fingers on it I couldn’t wait to get your lips upon it I couldn’t wait to slurp your goobies on it I could’t wait to die…

Morning 04:22
Long, long ago So the dead have told us so A story came to be Then was lost in history The cities caked in gold And the tomb of rulers old The new king of the land All the people at his hand “All of you people from Goshen To Abu Simbel and back again Bow to Amun and to my hand!” From the fathers hand And around again But it soon will end We begin in the morning All Egypt prays to him for fate The king, he is god incarnate Prosperity and peace belong to him The obsession with death Forever nearing a last breathe To join Re in the skies Is only the pharaoh’s prize “Until I fade away, I prepare for my last day. For if my spirit comes again, Entomb my body - I may need it yet. “To keep me company when I die Bury me with all the gold that’s mine For the gods will see me and smile…” Many centuries old The tradition holds But begins its fold (The decay of the morning) In the torrid time Amun-Re, he dies A new prayer resides Come alive in the morning

I – I’m delighted by the knowledge My recollection is correct And I – although it is I who failed you There’s redemption in it yet She – she is speaking ever softly Could her words be ever bad? And she knew it all from the beginning My eyes were closed to that… I can feel you against me Can feel you giving me A feeling that makes me Want feeling next to me I – I’ve just had a ghastly feeling Am I riding to my doom? And I – I’m unsure of how to save us But I must go and save us soon She – softly spoken arrow sending Did I survive another sweet? And she is not to blame for being an angel… I can feel you against me Can feel you giving me A feeling that makes me Want feeling next to me My words are poison in the air I walk towards the gate of them I’m off to close an opened door Oh – that I’d not opened it before It’s not a place for love to move Why did I send for all this proof? What must I do to have it die? …And keep it sweet…? To know all that has been I know we have agreed I walked into the week Aware of every dream Why can’t I have all that I’ve dreamed? I must believe that God has seen Forgive the death of what we’ve been… …Just call my name…! To save all that must be I beg that we agree The end – end of the week I have done what I dreamed…

My Lobotomy 03:22
My sunlight on your fallen sky My moonbeams, on your setting smile Like brothers, we are meant to be Aggression, forming naturally Forgiveness equals compromise In my other brother’s eyes Forgive me as I cause you pain I do it at a personal gain Who’s gonna take you apart and put you back again Pieces are missing only then you’ll be my friend Sworn enemies with reasons not to be Lie closer now, it’s my Lobotomy I’m watching over passive skies I’m searching for aggressive eyes I’ll push you, and then you’ll push me The feeling, Oh so naturally, Keep pushing, if it takes my life My seven sons to sacrifice, The only hand I give to you Is bloodstained and unshaken too

Fly 03:30
Saturday afternoon, no peaceful picnics today folks Traditional missile hurled at one of the fleet It’s nothing personal – we’ve just gotta get on with the job We gotta do what we do best Did I piss you off? Are you aware of the buzz? Doesn’t it make you mad? Wish you could fly like us? And in a minute When you think I’ve gone away I’ll be right here… We’ve got our troubles – being spider-meat is bad enough We don’t need you to jump on the bandwagon too Two-legged creatures, you make me sick! Two eyes?! And you’ve got no wings?! You look disgusting – Buzz! Buzz! Take that you fool! Fly! Do you have purpose at all?! Constant buzz drives me insane No six-leg(ged) **** will break me Ah! Shut up, you Fly, shut up!! Black Flag…

Emporium 02:33
Look what we have here The Emperor’s new beer With a taste that was taken from the sun no mistakin’ It’s the best beer of the year. And if you can’t taste it, then you’re a fool And if you can’t taste it, you’ve lost your cool Why don’t you try it, the Majestry buy it The emperor himself says so Sunkissed by the Gods Poured down from Rainbows end Brewed and distilled and then rushed over hills To the capital my friend I’ve marketed this brew most suitably Only the smart and wise will ever see The taste that’s created, its unprecedented Most suitably royalty Looks like I’m gonna win Another town sucked in Don’t know what they oughta cos they’re just drinking water With a flavouring my friend The marketing pitch worked so beautifully Like sheep they flocked to taste such ecstasy They’ll beg and they’ll differ in ignorant litter But all beer tastes the same.

Plea 03:48
You’re going nowhere I believe you know this is true And I am honestly worried That the end will surpass you before you can choose There is nothing wrong with dancing ‘til four in the morning Or having good times – they’re good times in the end But believe me when I say (that) I see you are falling… Please! Please!! Would I say this if I didn’t care? ‘Cos the only thing you’ll find at a dead end is a dead end There are those of us who care deep about you And would so love to see you come through But it is on your door He’s knocking We can only tell you how much He wants you “Those who seek Him at the eleventh hour Will die at 10:30 instead” Take my advice and take my advice… Please! Please!! Would I say this if I just didn’t care?

I went to this party There was alcohol and booze We got pissed Now we got the blues …Oh, we got the blues This girl walked in She looked so fine I walked up behind her I grabbed her behind …Oh, I got the blues The girl of my dreams She turned around One look from those eyes I feel to the ground …Oh, honey please – I’m on my knees, honey This guy rolled on over Wearing size 20 shoes She said, “Meet my boyfriend” Now I got the blues …Oh, I got the blues

Shine On 04:56
Are we simply shadows just passing by? Teach me to number my days right, so that I would know wisdom in You Don't let me be a flower that falls Shine on Your light - let me know life Now that You're looking for me and I know You Help me to think, hope and dream Help me to never fade away Will You be my shield when trouble starts closing in? Don't let them tear me to pieces! Help them to see what they realised too late was so right all along Shine on Your light - let me know life Shine on, shine on

about

On the 25th of August, 1993, a group of individuals - Kerry, Mark, Bobby, Richard, Bazil, David Vink, Anthony Davies, Evan Graham and Paula Davies - arrived at 10 Karaka Street and began a musical journey that none of them could have fathomed. Now, 21 years later, that jam session has sparked 12 bands (The Gypsys, Cynosure, Shift, Jamshed, Purge, NinjaVision, DJ Nu'un Esse, Deborah Johnson, Kerry Logan, Progressive Jon, R3union and the RockLords themselves), 43 albums (including singles and EPs), 464 different songs and included the musical talents of easily over 60 musicians. This, then, is the celebration of that 21 year journey - the result being The RockLords, a collection of the Greatest Music You've Never Heard.

What's more, this album of their best 21 songs ever is completely FREE! It spans the three eras of the group: the Gypsys-Cynosure years (1993-1998), the Shift years (1999-2004) and the Solo Projects (2005-2014). Taking seven songs from each era, we try to encapsulate the best of those times, in an effort to showcase just how good the music was and is.

From us to you, to celebrate this amazing birthday of ours, we give you RockLords 21st. Enjoy!
