about

The Gypsys are an improvisational band which began in 1993, hamming out Metallica, Nirvana and awful blues numbers. They grew into a more cohesive unit slowly but their journey was recorded and kept for all eternity. Characterised by riffs, thrashing out the same chord sequences, an early inability to finish a song together and often a heavy dose of their own peculiar brand of humour, these 50 or so musicians (once you play with the Gypsys, you're a Gypsy forever) have made music their life. And what a sad life it is...!

This collection is taken from the 22nd of December 2012 and the 4th of January 2014, both events where Mark had come back from England. Both sessions were held in Bob's garages (he has two of them!) and, on both occassions, the band took Mark's visit as an opportunity to rock out and create what would ultimately become their 12th non-gig album, Zodiac. This album marks a small departure from the Gypsys norm as there is a more significant representation of non-improvised material than in other albums.
