about

In 1998 I was given a job to stand on top of a balcony and, every three minutes, fill a container with with water and let it go. I did this for a week. During this time I wrote a stack of songs including this one. When the time came in 2014 to record the Collabor8 album, this was one of the first tracks chosen and ended being the standout track. Bringing in the incredible talents of Jaylin (vocals), Jeremiah (drums), and Pete (guitar), this song got incredibly good, incredibly fast.

lyrics

If I could show you a better way to breathe the air
Would you invite me to introduce you to that fear?
Look at me now, I'll show you how
Take a deep breath and inhale more than enough
A glow shows you how, a flame makes it now
All signs that you want to know

What I want you to be - to wear those wings - is that so tough?
I'm trying to set you free! But, I don't push you near enough
Answer me now: what would you allow?
I'm trying so hard just to give you heart enough
Hear me somehow - I pray that its now
I won't want to leave you alone

The sooner I'm taken to a better place with you
We'll leave the space we knew - a better grace we'll view

You entertain me, but all my words - do they creep in?
You unemploy me - my job is done, your to begin
I look at you now - did I help somehow?
No longer for me, but for you to work it out
When you come around, we'll be homeward bound
When they point at us, we will go
