Not Here With You

from First by Kerry Logan

about

This is one of the Gypsys - and therefore early RockLords - most well-known tracks. It is included here as a hits track (ripped straight from the 1997 Gypsys album "VII") and has two distinct features: one) it has long been viewed as one of the closest things the early Gypsys ever had to a 'hit' (due to it being the closest thing they ever had to a song), and two) I'm not keen to try properly record it at this stage so this rough live take will have to do.

lyrics

The trees are green and all the animals are dead
I don’t live today – I live in yesterday
I want to be not here with you
But if I close my eyes, disperse the size of those morbid ties
I’m seen to wait to be fooled again
And it is cool and serene; I make my own dream, taste what I have seen
I wish you were here but you’re not ‘cos I can’t see you anywhere

I’m left alone, unknown, no tone
Wanting to see you but I’m stopped there – 'cos you’re not here
And I’d have helped were it not for your resolve – now I’m alone

(Have you seen the man with purple hair?)
Having seen a man without despair
(I haven’t – you must be crazy)
I so knew it must be hazy
See me sitting on a tree stump in the middle of a forest, it won’t snow here
But, I still cry – because I’m made up like the enemy
I’m made to sit up, it makes me feel…
Ah – it makes me see…

It’s not dead – kill it
