The Gates of Moria

After reading The Fellowship of the Ring in early '94, I was struck by the scenes of Moria and I poured over them afterward trying to tease some music out of them. The result was the beginning fragments of this track, which later received a redo (prompted from the influence of Lila's Dance by Mahavishnu Orchestra) when it was first shown to the Shift trio. It was live recorded on The Super 8.
